The next morning, Steve scouted around the Tower
Indeed the creature left footprints near the tower, walking away
Over the next few days, he ran into the creature several more times
Each time, it was as if the creature was watching him
It just walked by, as if doing it's own business
But it never attacked, ignoring Steve, but never avoiding him
After a while, Steve waved to it, showing it he knew he was there
But the creature never waved back. Steve decided to call it "Grendel" because it was so big and strong
Then there was an adult, male bear, which Steve called Ursa
He ran into it a few times over the days
Then there was Toothgnasher, as Steve named him. A adult moose
He ran into it several rimes, probably in rut
But the creature that bothered Steve the most was not Grendel, but Fenris, a werewolf, or perhaps a dogman
It was nearly as tall as Grendel, perhaps 9 feet tall
But like Grendel, he never attacked, but knew Steve was watching him. Steve watched the creatures for weeks, not seeing another person for as long
